Christmas Card Camp

The details for this year's Christmas Card Camp are now posted under the 2011 Christmas Card Camp tab.

Thursday, November 10, 2011

As I promised yesterday, here is a card that uses no designer paper.  The texture of the card stock adds the depth and interest that would normally come from designer paper without overwhelming the delicate look of the card. Achieving this designer look is quite easy with the Big Shot machine and an embossing folder.  Just insert a piece of card stock into an embossing folder and run it through the Big Shot. That's all there is to it!  Best of all, you can find embossing folders with all sorts of textures...dots, stripes, stars, flowers, snowflakes, borders, wallpapers...In fact you could probably find a texture to suit almost any card or occasion.

  • Card Stock:  Whisper White, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi
  • Stamp Set:  Contempo Christmas (wm 118734, cm 120594)
  • Ink:  Garden Green Classic Stamp Pad
  • Punches:  Stocking Builder Punch (124095)
  • Tools:  Big Shot Machine (113439), Embossing Folder
  • Accessories:  Green Organza Ribbon (Dollar Tree)

Fifth and Final Christmas Camp Card

This is the last card we will be making at Christmas Card Camp on November 20th. I love adding texture to my card stock with embossing folders and my big shot.  I think it really makes the cards look great and it is a great alternative to designer paper. In the next few days, I'll be showing you a few cards that use no designer paper, only textured card stock.

  • Paper:  Letters to Santa Designer Paper (122349)
  • Card stock:  Whisper White, Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler
  • Stamp Set:  Contempo Christmas (wm 118734, cm 120594)

Pink & Green Snowflakes?

We are not just making cards at Christmas Card Camp this year. We are going to make some great tags too!  I made these snowflake tags in Blushing Bride, Pear Pizazz and Early Espresso, but if pink and green snowflakes don't float your boat, you can use any color card stock.  I also added one of the pearls from the Basic Pearls pack to the center for an extra special touch.

  • Card Stock:  Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz, Early Espresso
  • Paper Punches:  1/16" circle (101227), Snowflake (119852), 2 1/2" circle (120906) and 2 1/4" circle
  • Accessories:   Basic Pearls (119247), Silver thread, snail adhesive, glue dots

Third Card for Christmas Camp

Here is the third card for Christmas Card Camp.  This one uses the same designer paper (Letters to Santa), and also incorporates some textured paper using the "Snow Burst" textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Using embossing folders in the Big Shot with card stock is a great way to add texture and interest to your cards. I just put a piece of Early Espresso card stock in the folder and cranked it through the Big Shot.

  • Designer Paper:  Letters to Santa (122349)
  • Card Stock:  Whisper White, Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Old Olive
  • Tools:  Big Shot Machine (113439), Snow Burst Embossing Folder (124096), Snowflake Punch (119852)
  • Accessories:  Basic Pearls (119247)
