Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone.  These are the trophies that Aubrey and I made for the swim team Halloween party. The bases are made from wooden candlesticks that we spray painted black and then added some decorative touches. The glitter skulls were generously donated by our friends the Wooldridges. And the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place rosettes were made out of glitter paper and my new Stampin' Up! Simply Scored Scoring Tool.  To make the numbers I wrote with the Multipurpose Liquid glue and sprinkled with silver Stampin' Glitter.

Making the rosettes is easy. Just cut strips of paper 1 1/2" wide by 12" long and score every 1/4". Accordion fold on the score lines. After you have scored you strip of paper, cut off one 1/4 inch fold at the end of your strip. apply adhesive to one of the ends of paper and attach both sides of strip together to form cylinder. Place the cylinder on a flat surface and press the outer edges down and out to form rosette.  Apply strong glue or glue dot to a 1" circle and attach to top center of rosette to hold in rosette shape.  I found a great tutorial on the Amy's Creative Outlet blog.  She has lots of photos which are really helpful!

More Christmas Card Camp

Here is the second card that I think we will be making at Christmas Card Camp. It was made with the "Letters to Santa" DP, the Contempo Christmas stamp set and the Stocking Builder punch.  I really like this card. I think it has a very classic look.

Getting Ready for Christmas Card Camp

I know, it's not even Halloween yet.  But this week someone pointed out that it's time to schedule and order supplies for Christmas card camp. Well to do that, I had to start designing some Christmas cards. This is the first contender for this year's camp. It was created using the Letters to Santa designer paper, and the new stocking punch from the Holiday Mini Catalog.

I loved the stocking punch immediately! The "Letters to Santa" designer paper is another story. When I first saw it in the catalog, I wasn't to crazy about it. For some reason, I ordered it any way. Well I'm sure glad I did. I've decided that I actually kind of like it. The images in the catalog or not to scale and I think the colors are a little off.  When you see the paper in person you'll know what I mean.  Anyway, I've designed the cards for Christmas Camp with it and I'm quite happy with the way they turned out!

  • Designer Paper:  Letters to Santa (122349)
  • Card Stock:  Early Espresso, Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive
  • Punches:  Stocking Builder Punch (124095)
