Happy Halloween with Wacky Wishes

This cute Halloween card uses the Greeting Card Kids and Wacky Wishes stamp sets.  The Wacky Wishes set is so fun!  It's only available to hostess to if you want it...BOOK A WORKSHOP!!!

I also love the Greeting Card Kids stamp set and you don't need to be a hostess to buy this one.  I like to stamp the images in Basic Black ink and then color them in with my Stampin' Write Markers.  This way they always go with whatever designer paper I choose to use.

Tip of the Day:
Many people say you need to use Stazon ink when you watercolor or use markers to color in an image.  I find that if you heat set Basic Black ink it works great and doesn't smear or run.  I also like to heat set my image in between colors when I'm coloring it in.  This way I don't end up accidently smearing my colors...trust me...experience is talking about the accidental smears!

Materials:

  • Stamp Sets:  Greeting Card Kids (120633), Wacky Wishes (126412 - Hostess only)
  • Ink:  Basic Black (126980), Elegant Eggplant (126969)
  • Card Stock:  Whisper White (100730), Elegant Eggplant (105126), Old Olive (100702)
  • Designer Paper:  Elegant Eggplant from the Regals Collection Designer Paper Stacks (117154)
  • Accessories:  Glimmer Brads (121006 - Brights)  I used some retired glimmer brads but the brads from the current brights collection could easily be substituted.
  • Stampin' Write Markers:  Basic Black, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Pumpkin Pie, Elegant Eggplant, Chocolate Chip

I Love Fall...

I love fall! I think it's probably my favorite time of year.  With the holidays just around the corner, it's the ultimate time for decorating and crafting.

Right now I'm working on my Halloween crafts.  Party favors, decorations and trick or treating items. These Halloween tags are perfect for attaching to favor bags or trick or treat goody bags.  I used my cricut machine to cut out the tag shape then I stamped on the Halloween greeting, distressed them with black Stampin' pastels, attached the cute little bat punch-out and threaded them with 1/4" black ribbon.

Tip of the Day:
The Bitty Bat punch is on the Stampin' Up Clearance Rack for only $9.95 while supplies last.

Materials:

  • Card Stock: Kraft and Basic Black (121045)
  • Ink:  Basic Black (126980)
  • Stamp Set: Wacky Wishes - (126412 - Hostess Only)
  • Punches:  Bitty Bat Punch (119279) (on SU Clearance Rack)

Here is the second card we made Friday night.  If you missed it, the next card making night will be on Friday, October 12th at 7:30pm.

We also used the Delightful Dozen stamp set.  This is a perfect stamp set for card makers. Just as the name implies there are stamps for 12 different occasions.

Card Making Night - (Part 1)

This past Friday was our monthly card making get together.  If you weren't there, you missed a good time!  A couple of new faces joined our usual crowd and we all had a lot of fun laughing, eating and making cards.

This is one of our beautiful creations. It's bright and cheerful, made with Lucky Limeade designer paper from the Summer Smooches pack. Notice how well the color of the ink, card stock and designer paper match.  This is one of the great things about Stampin' Up!. You always know that your ink, papers and accessories will match.

I also love stamping tone on tone.  The flower image was stamped with Lucky Limeade ink on Lucky Limeade  paper for this pretty, almost dimensional effect.

Materials:
  • Card Stock:  Whisper White (100730), Lucky Limeade (122926)
  • Designer Paper:  Summer Smooches (125409)
  • Stamp Set:  Bring on the Cake (greeting) (121958) and Mixed Bunch (125537)
  • Ink:  Lucky Limeade Classic Ink Pad (126984)
  • Tools:  3/4" Circle Punch (119873), Blossom Punch (125603)

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day! If you hurry, you can celebrate with these cute cello bags and toppers...just kidding, the cello bags are sold out.  But don't worry here's an alternate project for you.

These cute pencil favors are made with the 1" x 8" cello bags that are carried over from the Holiday Mini.  You can usually find 12 pencils for $1 in the Target Dollar bins and they fit perfectly into the cello bags.

To make the favor bags:
  1. Place pencils in bags and seal
  2. Cut a 1 3/4" X 3 1/2" piece of card stock, fold over the top of the bag and staple
  3. Use the 1 3/8" Square punch to punch out an alternate color of cardstock
  4. Punch out a star from your choice of paper. (Star punch was retired last year and the glitter paper I used was not from Stampin' Up!)

Bye Bye Beyond the Garden and Thank You Kindly

Here is another card created with my favorite Beyond the Garden designer paper. Actually, the polka dot paper in Wild Wasabi is from Just Add Cake designer paper which is also retiring.  The pretty flower stamp is from the Mixed Bunch stamp set  and was punched out with the coordinating Blossom Punch (both are carryover items from the Occasions Mini). The "Thank You" greeting is from the retiring, Thank You Kindly stamp set.

Almost Time to Say Good Bye

There is only one week left to order retiring items from the 2011-12 Idea Book and Catalog.  If you have some favorites, now is the time to get them! You can place an order at any time by going to my Stampin' Up! Online Store.  There you will find a link to the Retiring Items as well as the Clearance Section.  Great deals can be found in both areas!

Today I am paying tribute to my favorite retiring designer paper.  This card and matching gift card holder were created using one of the patterns from the Beyond the Garden designer paper pack. I love the colors in this paper!  I added some butterflies created with my Big Shot and Beautiful Wings Embosslit die.  The butterflies are embellished with pretty little pearls for a special touch.

Instructions for making gift card holders can be found here.

Adding Finishing Touches

Have you ever seen a card that you thought looked good but maybe was missing something?  Sometimes just small touches can take a card from good to great.

Embossing is a perfect way to add texture and interest to a card without using designer paper.  The background of this card was embossed using the "Square Lattice" embossing folder.  The texture in the background makes the card look richer and more professional than just a flat piece of card stock.  Another small touch that can really add to your card is "dressing your button".  Adding linen thread and ribbon to the button makes it look more finished.

Although this card would have been fine with a flat piece of card stock in the background and a naked button I think it's the little details that can really elevate a card.

MATERIALS:
  • Stamp Set:  Kidoodles (122867)
  • Ink:  Basic Black Classic Ink Pad (101179)
  • Stampin' Write Markers: Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Regal Rose,
  • Card Stock:  Whisper White, Wild Wasabi, Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy
  • Tools:  Big Shot Machine (113439), Square Lattice Embossing Folder (119976)

Mini Valentine Cards and Envelopes

I love the way this Valentine's project came out.  These little cards with matching scalloped envelopes are another excellent choice for kids to give out at school.  I was lucky enough to get several packages of the pink and red designer paper from Stampin' Up's Clearance rack during the Clearance Blitz making this a very economical project for me.

The little cards are flat and measure 2" x 3" which is the perfect size to fit into the scallop envelopes which I cut out using Stampin' Up's Scallop Envelope die and my Big Shot Machine.

  • Stamp Set:  Delightful Dozen (122652)

Valentine Pencil Treat Bags

Are you getting ready for Valentine's Day?  I am!  I have been crazy busy getting my Etsy shopped loaded up with lots of Valentine's goodies. Here is one of the items that I recently made for the shop.  They are Valentine pencil treat bags. Won't these be great for kids to give out at school?

I saw the Valentine pencils in the Target $1 bin and immediately knew they were a perfect fit for Stampin' Up's! 1" x 8" cello bags.  The colors are also an excellent match to some of Stampin' Up!'s colors.  So guess what...I cleaned off the shelf.

These were really easy to make.

Instructions:

  1. Cut a piece of card stock 1 3/4 x 3 1/2"
  2. Score at 1 3/4" (so that when folded it measures 1 3/4 x 1 3/4)
  3. Inserted a pencil into the bag and sealed it.
  4. Fold and staple the scored card stock over the top of the bag.
  5. Punch out a coordinating scallop square and heart and attached them to cover the staple.

That's it! See, super easy!

Materials:
  • Card Stock:  Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Real Red, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White
  • Punch:  Scallop Square (119884), Heart to Heart (119881)
  • Accessories:  1 x 8" Cello Bags (124134), Pencils (Target $1 Bin), Staples
