Card Making Basics

Create a Card Base:

No need to buy blank card bases. Creating your own is super easy and cost effective. You can create two standard A2 (5 1/2" x 4 1/4") card bases out of a single sheet of 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock.

  1. Cut the sheet of cardstock in half  at  5 1/2"
  2. Score each of your cut pieces in half at 4 1/4" and fold with the bump the score created on the inside.
  3. You now have two standard A2 sized cards measuring 5 1/2 x 4 1/4"

Adding Designer Paper and a Mat Layer:

The easiest way to start a card is to pick a piece of designer paper, mat it with cardstock, and attach it to the card base. Then you can finish it off by adding your sentiment and embellishments.

I find having the designer paper applied to my card base, eliminates the "blank canvas" effect...the inability to get started, for fear of ruining that pristine surface.
